Puttur: People Protest against AC's Transfer - Demand Reinstatement

Puttur, Jun 21: Several organizations have been rallying behind the local Assistant Commissioner (AC) Vasant Kumar, known as an officer having concern for people. Besides submitting memorandums to the chief minister to drop initiatives for his transfer, they have also taken up post card campaign in support of their demand.

Forum of Puttur Taluk Literacy Voluntary Workers, motivators and deputy motivators of Continuing Education Project and workers of Apna Desh organization have launched a post card campaign in support of their demand for the retention of Kumar in Puttur, besides submitting memorandums to the chief minister on the issue.

In a memorandum submitted to the state chief minister, they have said that after Vasant Kumar took charge of his office here, he has succeeded in reining in the spiralling corruption, played a stellar role in working to provide all facilities for which common men are eligible to and came to the rescue of people by removing illegal structures from the roads and roadsides. By retaining pro-people AC, the government should help people to turn Puttur into a model taluk that is devoid of corrupt practices, they have demanded.

Vasant Kumar is fully involved with people-friendly programmes like continuing education, Apna Desh and such other schemes. Some people have been working hard to shunt him out of the taluk. The chief minister should not wilt under the pressure tactics and take a firm stand in allowing him to work here for a few more years, they demanded.

They have also submitted a copy each of the memorandum to the CM secretariat cheif secretary V P Baligar and revenue minister Karunakar Reddy.

Aruna D, district president of Literacy Voluntary Workers Forum and taluk secretary Sushila have informed that the post card campaign has been initiated voluntarily and about a lac post cards are expected to be used for the campaign by members of the forum, neo-literates, members of self help groups and well-wishers of people-friendly schemes.

    Congratulations to Putturians! Let us support people like Vasant Kumar! Let many such people be born to lead our nation on the path of freedom to do good. Let the authorities transfer or dismiss MR. CORRUPTION and not Mr. Vasant Kumar!

    CONGRATS!!! to the people of Puttur, wake up and keep the heat on till the AC is retained. At all costs the evil intentions of DVS should be foiled. If DVs succeeds this time he will use this everytime. People should teach him and BJP a lesson.

    A party who claims before elections that it is clean as milk and the shows it true colours is worth denouncing by all respectful citizens. Hypocricy is a dagerous and all peole should be careful. The very fact people have voted this party to power does not warrant that they can take the people for a ride.
