Udupi, Jun 20: In an accident that took place on the national highway 17 at Uppinakote near Brahmavar on Thursday evening, a tempo carrying fish collided head-on with a Mahindra pick up vehicle coming from the opposite direction. At the same time, a school bus coming which was trailing the pick up van, hit the pick up van from behind. Three persons travelling in the pick up and a staff of the bus were injured in the accident, while the students travelling in the school bus had a miraculous escape.
The pick up vehicle was carrying bakery products. The school bus belonged to Little Rock School Brahmavar, and a few students sustained scratches and minor bruises when the windshield of the bus was broken and the front portion of the bus was damaged. The traffic on the highway was affected for some time, before the Brahmavar police came on the scene and cleared the highway.
