Mangalore: 'Interns' Emerge Victorious at 'Müllerliga - 2008'

Mangalore, Jun 19: Amidst the hype of Euro Cup-2008, Mullerliga-2008, a week-long football fest of Fr Muller Medical College came to an end on Wednesday June 18 with Interns emerging victorious defeating the Staff team. The inter-batch football league had commenced on Tuesday June 10.

Despite heavy rains, the league sailed smoothly throughout with players often battling slush. Müllerliga-2008 was a real crowd-puller with the supporters making light of heavy weather just to support the players. But rains gods were so impressed with the week-long battle that they decided to take a break for the finals. Accordingly the final, played under clean skies between Interns and Staff teams was a treat for the football fans though the latter were drubbed 4-0 by the former.

Highest goal scorer: Jonathan Bass (Team Interns) scored 3 goals
Best goal keeper: Dr Vivek Vincent (Intern) & Vinod Kumar (M B BS Batch 2005)

The tournament concluded with a short valedictory function. Fr Patrick Rodrigues, director, FMCI presided over the valedictory and congratulated the players. Fr Denis D'Sa, administrator and Dr B Sanjeev Rai, dean, awarded prizes to the winners.
