Udupi, Jun 19: Mohammed Taufiq (20), son of Abdul Gani from Mallar Fakirkatte near Kaup, was electrocuted when he was trying to set right the television antennae on Wednesday June 18 morning.
After Taufiq saw that there was problem in viewing television programmes, he went up the stairs to set right the antennae direction. As he slipped on the stairs, he caught hold of the antennae mast in a hurry. As electricity was flowing through the mast, he died on the spot. His sister too had tried to repair the antennae some time earlier, but had come back as she felt shocks afer touching the mast.
Faulty wiring is said to be the reason for the death. Taufiq, belonging to a very poor family, was working in a mobile shop here. A case has been registered at Kaup police station.
