China urges all parties to resolve North Korea crisis

Beijing, Oct 17 (IANS): China on Tuesday urged all parties involved in the North Korean crisis to not add fuel to the fire and insisted that they should seek to resolve the situation through dialogue instead of provocation.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lu Kang responded to a question regarding the threat made by Kim In-ryong, North Korea's deputy Ambassador to the UN, who said on Monday that a nuclear war may break out at any moment, Efe news reported.

"We hope that the parties can calm down the situation and return to the path of negotiation instead of provoking each other, adding fuel to the fire," said Lu.

Lu added that it is not in the interest of any party for a nuclear war to take place.
