Bangalore: When Owner's Away, Tenant 'steals' House

TNN

BANGALORE, Jun 16: A tenant, under the pretext of purchasing the house of his landlord has made the house ‘disappear'. Prasad, the owner of the house, has lodged a complaint with the Mico Layout police, seeking their help to ‘search for his lost house'.

According to the complaint, Prasad leased his house in BTM Layout to John. Recently, Prasad wanted to sell his house. John offered to buy it. While Prasad quoted Rs 75 lakh, John said he would pay Rs 60 lakh. After negotiations, the price was fixed at Rs 62 lakh.

As per the agreement, John paid an advance and promised to settle the rest and get the house registered in his name in three months. However, in that time, Joh paid only Rs 26 lakh and pleaded with Prasad to extend the agreement by three more months.

After renewing the agreement, Prasad went on holiday to Mysore with his family. On his return, he found the house demolished. A signboard on the vacant site said it belonged to John and the trespassers would be prosecuted.
