Mangalore: Deep Sea Fishing Ban from Jun 15

Mangalore, Jun 15: Fishing using mechanised boats, trawlers and fishing boats that use inboard and outboard engines in excess of 10 HP, has been forbidden in the coast with effect from today till August 10 this year.. The deputy director of fisheries department has warned that fishermen who violate this ban and conduct fishing activity, will face legal action, and that they will be solely responsible for accidents if any that occur during the said period.

The fishermen who transgress the orders, will forfeit  facilities like disel without sales tax and other subsidies and assistances. This order takes into account the well being of the fishermen of the entire coastal belt of the state, the deputy director of the fisheries department said.
