Mangalore: Rajya Sabha Ticket Eludes Dhananjay Kumar by a Whisker

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Jun 15: Dhananjay Kumar, who had stayed away from active politics after he was denied Lok Sabha ticket in the 2004 elections, had staged  a come back recently to active politics by participating in the electioneering for assembly election. He had succeeded in getting nominated by the state unit of the BJP for the Rajya Sabha seat from the state, for which election will be held shortly.

BJP sources have informed, that Dhananjay had succeeded in winning support from several influential BJP central leaders and his selection was very near to becoming a reality. The BJP has now decided to field ex Congress MP Prabhakar Kore, a strongman from Belgaum who runs several educational institutions there, and who has recently shifted allegiance to the BJP, from the state. Kumar says he bows before the party decision, but he is naturally a disappointed man now.

Speculations are also rife, that Anant Kumar group within the BJP did not like Dhananjay being given as a ticket, as he is not considered close to that group.
