Dalit man lynched for watching garba, 8 arrested

Ahmedabad, Oct 2 (Zee News): In a shocking incident, a 21-year-old Dalit man was lynched for watching Garba dance hosted for upper-caste Patel community in Gujarat's Anand district on Saturday.

Eight people have arrested for the incident, said the police.

Jayesh Solanki, resident of Vankarvas area in Bhadrania village, was watching garba during Navaratri festivities with four other Dalit men near a house adjacent to a temple. Suddenly a member of Patel community made "derogatory remarks about their caste", said the police quoting a complaint filed in connection with the incident.

The accused said Dalits "do not have any right to watch garba. He made casteist remarks and asked some men to come to the spot", an officer at the Bhadran police station said.

Thereafter, the Patel men allegedly beat up the Dalits, banging Solanki's head against a wall. He was rushed to a hospital in Karamsad, where doctors declared him brought dead in the morning.

The incident took place around 4 am.

"We have registered an FIR under IPC sections related to murder and the Prevention of Atrocities Act against eight men," the official said.

Dismissing that it was a pre-meditated attack, Deputy SP (SC/ST cell) A M Patel said, "Jayesh was killed in the heat of the moment, as there was no rivalry between him and the accused. We are probing the case from all angles. The accused will be arrested soon."

Poll-bound Gujarat witnessed massive protests in July 2016 over the brutal thrashing of four Dalit men at a village in Una town.

This is the gift for the father of the nation on his birthday, who fought for the enlightenment of dalits. In India a crime is committed against some Dalit every 18 minutes. 11Dalits are beaten and three raped every day. 13 dalits are murdered,6 kidnapped or abducted and 5 Dalit’s homes burnt every week, according to the National Crime Record Bureau.

and then they blame Christians of converting these Dalits.....

The million dollar question is: do Christians really need to force any conversions on these downtrodden human beings who are treated worse than animals?

In spite of the efforts exerted by the government towards Dalits’, SC, ST etc... The situation in our Country has not seen badly deserving results towards these low cast people. Cast and Class superiority, is still ruling mostly in Norther/Western India.
The only successful achievement in that direction was Yeddurappa's lunch with Dallits. (No dinner nor follow on breakfast thereafter)
Party present will be in Mangalore and someone should take a chance to make a plea to him in this regard.

Is this what, Father of our nation Gandhiji wanted to see in his India?
Is this the Ramrajya, our honorable Vice President Venkaiya Naidu spoke just about?
What's wrong in Dalit's watching garba?
If they take part there is problem. If they don't take part then too there is problem.
Who are real Ravans? Let's see how this perpetrators going to be punished!

One of the best comment and thought i have heard in recent days. RG is luck for BJP.

But the question is who will make congress understand this and that we need a better opposition leader to tackle the failures of ruling party? Congress suffers a lot because of Sonia and Rahul Gandhi.
