M'lore: Epidemic Chikungunya Enters City as Four Positive Cases Reported

Mangalore, Jun 6: Epidemic Chikungunya has entered into the city as four cases were reported on on Thursday June 5.

Sources informed that four cases were confirmed at a clinic in Kuloor when their blood samples were tested. Philip D’Souza of Bondelpadavu, Jayashree of Kuloorkudru, Tannirbavi residents Shekhar and his wife Asha are the Chikungunya positive patients.

Locals turned panic after hearing this news as the disease is epidemic in nature. District health officer Dr Jagannath had denied the media persons few days ago, that Chikungunya has not entered the city. But he cautioned the possibility of spreading Chikungunya across the city. The citing of Chikungunya cases in the city has alerted the local administration, in order to take necessary preventive measures.

One can note that thousands of people are suffering from Chikungunya in the interior areas of Sullia, Puttur and Bantwal taluks.
