Bangalore: Bus Fare Hike not Now - Dr V S Acharya

SOM

Bangalore, Jun 5: The just announced hike in fuel prices and the prospective hike in bus fares by KSRTC and BMTC figured in the Cabinet meeting this morning at Vidhana Soudha, presided over by Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa.

Dr. V.S. Acharya, briefing the press after the meeting, said that there was no proposal to hike the bus fares now.

He said that the decision on both issues would be made part of the budget of the Government to be placed on the floor of the Legislative Assembly on July 10.

The meeting also discussed the issue of nominating a member of the Anglo-Indian community to the State Assembly under Article 323 of the Constitution.

The decision was left to the Chief Minister.

However, the name of David M.B. Fullinfaw, President, BJP Minorities Morcha, is being heard as the person to be nominated.

It may be recalled, he was nominated as a representative of the community in the past during the Chief Ministership of Veerendra Patil in 1989.
