Mangalore, Jun 3: Pandanda T Madappa, a resident of Bangalore Vidyaranyapuram and father of Monnappa, who was found lying dead in a secluded place behind a hotel in Balmata in the city a few days back, has pressed for thorough investigation into the causes leading to the death of his son in city. Speaking at a press conference on Monday June 2, he alleged that his son was murdered and that it was not an accidental death as being made out to be.

He said that he received a phone call from Monnappa on May 21 morning, stating that he would be coming to Bangalore by an afternoon bus, for remitting fees for his supplementary PUC examination. Monappa again called his father in the afternoon, saying that he had postponed his travel to night. Monnappa also called his father at night from some other mobile phone, that he was travelling in a bus and that his mobile was low on battery. However, when we contacted the number through which the night call was received, the receiver feigned ignorance about Monnappa, Madappa stated.

He also claimed, that allegations of drug abuse and other vices his son was said to be having, are false. Directing his suspicion on the companions of Monnappa for the death of his son and suspecting that the police are trying to hush up the case because of pressures exerted on them, Madappa pleaded with the Western Range IGP to order for thorough investigation and ensure that the guilty are punished.

Mother of the deceased Shaila Madappa, relatives Bheemaiah, Appanna and Appacchu were present at the press conference.
