Puttur, Jun 1: The workers  assigned by Uppinangady gram panchayat led by Puttur Assistant Commissioner (AC) and Uppinangady sub-inspector M G Nayak, demolished around 30 petty shops, on Sunday June 1 evening. These shops  located near Uppinangdy bus stand were illegally operating
since many years.

Uppinangady gram panchayat officials had served  eviction notices  to the shop keepers. But even after a month, they did not vacate the premises.   The demolition drive was carefully planned  on  a Sunday evening, when the shops were closed for the weekend and  there was no possibility of getting a stay order from any court.
