Mangalore : Election for Late Blasy's MLC Seat on June 26

Mangalore, May 31: For the purpose of filling up the vacancy of the post of a member of the Karnataka legislative council caused by the death of Blasius M D'Souza, the Election Commission of India has issued a notification.

The late MLC, popularly known as Blasy, was representing DK local authority constituency. June 9 will be the last date for filing of nomination. Scrutiny of applications will be conducted on June 10, with June 12 being the last date for withdrawal of nominations.

Election will be held from 8 am to 4 pm on June 26, followed by counting of votes on June 28.

Elected members of the following bodies from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts will be eligible to contest in this by election: gram panchayats, taluk panchayats, zilla panchayats, city crporation, city municipal council, town municipal councils, town panchayats, legislative council, legislative assembly, Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha.

In a release, the DK deputy commissioner has asked the willing contestants to enroll their names in the voters list of the DK local authority election constituency, by filing details in Form-17.

    Will Cong I in both districts identify a able candidate for this MLC seat? With lack of dynamic leaders in its fold Cong I is slowly fading away from political scene.
