MANGALORE, May 20: The concreting of a four-lane stretch between Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus-stand circle and the Lalbagh Circle-Bejai Church Road here is likely to be completed in June.

A senior official in the corporation, who did not want his name to be mentioned, said that the stretch from Bejai church till the KSRTC bus-stand premises had been developed into a four-lane concrete road. “The carriage way has been completed up to the compound wall of the bus-stand.

A bridge has also been completed,” the official said. Light motor vehicles were already plying between Bejai church and KSRTC bus-stand circle. Conversion of another stretch in front of the KSRTC bus-stand into four lane was yet to be taken up because of non-availability of requisite land. The KSRTC had agreed to part a portion of its premises for this road. The corporation was constructing a new compound for the KSRTC. The work of four-laning the stretch would be taken up soon, he said.

The road between KSRTC bus-stand circle and Lalbagh Circle would be made into a four-lane concrete road after this work. The corporation was yet to call the tender for constructing the drainage and footpath on this road because of the prevailing election code, he said.
