Beltangady: Accident Claims Old Pilgrim’s Life at Kinyalukatte near Naravi

Belthangady, May 19:  An old woman died when a Maruti Omni vehicle rammed into a tree at Kinyalukatte in Kutlur near Naravi on Monday May 19.



The deceased has been identified as Ratnamma (60), resident of Sankadahole in Attikodige near Teerthahalli. The incident occurred when she was traveling to Dharmasthal with her family members on pilgrimage to Sri Kshetra Manjunateshwara at the wee hours of Monday.

Yashodha, Umesh K V, Deeksha, Deepti, Surendra and Ananth Mallya who were traveling in the same vehicle also critically injured.  The tragedy occurred when the sleep deprived driver of Omni lost control of the vehicle, when he dozed off for a while, sources told.

Venur station police have registered a case and investigations are underway.
