Mangalore, May 19: The 29th general body meeting of Catholic Sabha central committee, awards presentation and book release ceremonies were held on Sunday May 18 at Bishop’s House here.
The programme was presided over by Lancy D'Cunha, president of the central committee. Bishop of Belgaum Peter Machado and Justice Michael D'Cunha, district judge of Bangalore rural district were the guests of honour. Spiritual director of Catholic Sabha Fr Vincent Monteiro, Fr Joseph Lobo, procurator of the diocese, Nigel Pereira, secretary of Catholic Sabha were present.
Justice Michael D Cunha presented the 12th Danthi Memorial Literary Award to Fr Prashant Madtha, former principal of St Aloysius College for his Kannada book 'Padhanidhi.'
The award for social service was presented to Judith Mascarenhas, award for service for mentally challenged to Sr Maria Jyothi A C and award for the contribution for the Catholic Sabha and community was given to Denis D'Silva, Manipal. Fr Prashant and Judith Macarenhas spoke on the occasion.
Justice Michael D'Cunha was honoured for his achievements by bishop Peter Machado.
The book 'Catholic Sabetha Charta' (History of Catholic Sabha) written by Dr Gerald Pinto (Jerry Niddodi) was released by bishop Machado.
Catholic Sabha donated 100 chairs to the hall of Bishop’s House on the occasion.
George Ligoury D'Souza compered the programme. Fr Vincent Monteiro spoke on the occcasion. Kishore Fernandes proposed the vote of thanks.
