Mangalore, May 12: An off-shore survey will be conducted on the coastal belt by M/s Seabird Exploration Company on behalf of ONGC from Monday May 12.

A press release stated that the survey will last 35 days and will cover the area between 71.40 degree and 73 degree latitudes and 14 degree and 15 degree longitudes.

The ship will move at a speed of five nautical miles per hour. Equipped with a 12 km long steel cable extending 6 mts below the water level, the ship will function 24 hours a day.

Fishermen have been asked by the deputy director of fisheries not to venture in to the marked areas during the course of the survey.
