Mangalore May 9: The district unit of AHIND has alleged that, the reputed private aided, unaided and minority PU colleges in the city have willfully disobeyed the norms laid by Karnataka State PU Board with regard to the admission of the students and of reservations for backward classes for the first year PU courses.

Addressing the media persons at a press conference in the press club premises here on May 9 , district unit executive secretary Lolaksha said that, though the PU Board norms clearly indicate that PU colleges should issue applications till May 12 and to accept the filled applications till May 15, after that  to display the students list on merit and reservation base by considering descending order of the marks but contrary to that private PU colleges in the city have completely overlooked the norms by registering the students and stopping the issue of applications,  thus underestimated the regulations of the government.

“These private colleges have collected Lacs of money in the name donation and voluntary donation”, he alleged.

He also pointed out at the atrocity of a private PU college in the city for conducting entrance test while admitting the students for the first year course.

Lolaksha also stated that, owing to the irregularities of these private institutions deprived many aspirants of backward class, minority and dalith communities from perusing higher education. And demanded that the concerned authorities to suspend these admissions already initiated by the colleges.

Cautioning these irregularities, he informed the media persons that AHIND will file a Public Litigation Bill in the High Court and lodge a complaint in Lokayukta office.

He also said that the unit will submit a memorandum to the Governor through the District Commissioner at the earliest.
