Mangalore, May 9: In an incident that seemed straight out of a Bollywood flick, train passengers were looted by some unidentified men who stopped the train by pulling the chain at Yadiyur near Mysore on Thursday May 8.

The dacoits looted the general compartment of the Yashwanthpur Express which was coming towards Mangalore from Bangalore. They snatched gold and cash worth lacs of rupees from the lady passengers. It is said that it was midnight when the chain was pulled and the train stopped, just about half a kilometre away from Yadiyur. As the train stopped there was a shower of stones on the general compartment and people got down from the train. As soon they alighted they their belongings were snatched by some unidentified people.

It is said that the incident took place because of lack of police personnel in the train and at the station. The culprits could do their work and escape easily. A few women and children have been injured because of the stones that were thrown.

It is suspected that the culprits had an accomplice on the train who pulled the chain for them.
