Bantwal, May 5: The capitalists’ policies followed by both Congress and BJP in the country have brought disgrace to all Indians globally.  Both NDA and UPA-led coalition governments are responsible for disintegration of national self-reliance system by inviting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) owing to pressures of globalization”, alleged S Sudhakar Reddy, CPI national deputy secretary and MP.

He was addressing media persons before starting the poll campaign on behalf of party candidate Satheesh Kumar in the constituency on Sunday May 4.

“It’s our aim to defeat communal BJP in the forthcoming legislative assembly polls”, he said.  It is the fake secular stand of former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda which brought BJP to power in the state, he added.

He urged the voters to elect young and enterprising Satheesh Kumar for the overall development of the constituency which has seen anarchy rule of Congress and BJP in the past.

Opposition to Special Economic Zone (SEZ):  

CPI will not support setting up of any projects such as SEZ which bring misery to majority of people.  CPI had already expressed its opposition for setting up of SEZ in the coastal district.  These kinds of projects snatch the right for living of the poor people, he opined.

Satheesh Kumar said that his party has opposed the proposed setting up of Bantwal Corporation project.  It was designed unscientifically without consulting anyone. CPI would stage struggle by taking the citizens into confidence against the proposed project.

Dr Siddana Gowda Patil, CPI state secretary, said that the candidates who have had no ideologies of any party are hopping from party-to-party.  The voters should teach such contestants a lesson by voting against them.  

BJP has the agenda of communalism and corruption while Congress and JDS favour caste-oriented polities under the guise of secularism.

CPI leaders B K Krishna, P Sanjeev, Vishwanat B Shekhar and others were present at the press conference.

Vote for Ramanath Rai - Congress

The block-level Congress party workers' meet of Goltamaja–Amtoor was held recently under the leadership of Panemangalore Block Congress president Padmanabha Rai. All the party workers were asked to work towards winning of Congress candidate Ramanath Rai who is contesting for legislative assembly polls from his home constituency.  

Former minister and Congress candidate Ramanath Rai, while addressing the party workers, said that he had styled his life according to Congress ideologies since his childhood.  He had always strived for the unity and communal harmony of residents in his home constituency.  Moreover, those who know how the party functions will surely support him.

KPCC spokesperson Ashwini Kumar Rai, taluk panchayat president Chandrahas Shetty, district Waqf Committee member Abdul Hameed, Sudarshan Jain, taluk panchayat member Ida Suresh, B K Iddinabba, Sundar Kattemar, Batyappa Master were present at the occasion.

KFD Blames AMR Power Company for Illegal Work

Karnataka Forum for Dignity (KFD) has alleged that A M R Power Private Limited which has been given permission to start its project at Perala  near Sarapady village, has now illegally undertaken work of laying high-tension wires at Shambhoor.

This has come has a problem to the farmers now. As per the rules laid down by the Union government anyone undertaking any kind of agricultural activity under the passing high-tension wires should keep at least a minimum distance of 60 feet between the wire and the land.  So as per the rules, none of the farmers of Shambhoor through whose fields high-tension wires are laid can undertake agricultural activity.  The Company has ventured into this work without giving any notification, KFD alleged.
