Bantwal, May 5: In a tragic incident, two persons drowned in Phalguni River at Puchamogaru near Siddakatte here on Sunday, May 4.
The deceased have been identified as Imran (18) and his younger sister Nafeesa (10). The incident occurred when they were crossing the river in a boat to attend an Urus function. The boat lost balance and capsized. Both of them drowned while others who were crossing the river in the same boat escaped unhurt.
A case has been registered against the boatman.
