Bangalore. May 1:
The election Commission has directed political outfits in poll-bound Karnataka not to use party flags during May Day celebrations on Thursday.

The EC has also said they cannot use the occasion as a 'political platform.' State Election Commission Chief M N Vidyashankar said on Wednesday, that besides caps and T shirts, distribution of shawls with the party symbol and photo of candidates has been prohibited.

The last date for issue of Electoral Photo Identity Cards (EPIC) for the first phase of Assembly elections on May 10 has been extended to May 7 from May 5.

Liberal on ID proof Voters can produce an EPIC or one of the 17 documents, including passport, driving licence, PAN card or ration card as identity proof.

If a member of a family has any one of these 18 documents, the other members of the family can come in a group and would be allowed to vote, Vidyashankar said.
