Mangalore: ‘State One of 10 Most Creative Zones of World’

Mangalore, May 1: People of Delhi are busy in discussing about politics and Mumbai people always discuss about finance. But the people of Bangalore always talk about technology. Therefore, Karnataka has been recognized as one of the 10 creative zones of the world, said Dr H P Khincha, vice-chancellor of Visvesvaraya Technological University.

Speaking at the annual day celebrations of Sahyadri Institute of Technology located at Adyar, on Wednesday, April 30, he said that, today’s engineer is not an engineer for state. But he is an engineer for global level, he opined.

Education and people educated people are the two major influential factors which determine the competitive index of any country. Competitive index numbers will jump high in the future in India, owing to the developments in the educational field. Technical institutions will also boost the competitive index of the nation, he added.

Dr S Ramegowda, chairman of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) presided over the function.

Dr Sandeep Sanchethi, director of National Institute of Technology-Karnataka (NIT-K, Suratkal) and Manjunath Bhandary, chairman of Bhandary Foundation were present on the dais.

Dr D L Prabhakar, principal of the college, welcomed the gathering and presented the annual report. Melita Pinto compered the programme.
