Teen arrested over five acid attacks in London


London, Jul 14 (IANS): A teenager has been arrested following five attacks in north-east London which involved corrosive substances being thrown in peoples' faces, the media reported on Friday.

According to The Metropolitan Police, all the attacks happened within 90 minutes in Hackney, Stoke Newington and Islington on Thursday night and detectives are treating them as linked, reports the BBC.

The teenage male is being held at an east London police station on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and robbery.

The victims were taken to hospital, with one of them suffering "life-changing injuries", the BBC reported.

The first attack took place at 10.25 p.m. (local time) in Hackney Road when two unidentified male riders on a bike threw a corrosive substance on a 32-year-old.

The Met Police said enquiries were ongoing.
