Udupi: Rash, Negligent Truck Driving Claims Life at NH-17

Brahmavar, Apr 27: Due to the rash and negligent behaviour of a drunken truck driver, a person lost his life on the National Highway 17, here on Saturday April 26.

According to police sources, a rickshaw coming from Uppinakote and travelling towards Brahmavar as its destination, stopped beside the road. Unfortunately, it was badly hit by a Manganese truck which was going towards Kundapur. Due to the accident three people were badly injured, while one died on the spot.

The deceased has been identified as Ijithar Sequira (70), a resident of Uppinakote who was coming to Brahmmavar by the auto-rikshaw. The injured has been identified as Lidiya (50) wife of Ijithar Sequeira daughter-in-law Juliat (30) and rickshaw driver Ashok all of whom have been admitted to Manipal hospital.

According to sources the truck driver who hit the auto try to escape from the spot,  but was stopped by the locals. A case has been filed at the Brahmavar police station.
