M'lore: EC Releases List of Documents Alternative to Voters ID

Mangalore, Apr 24: Election commission has made it mandatory to carry voters ID to exercise franchise in the forthcoming assembly election. But those who do not have the voters ID can cast their vote by presenting any one of the following authentic documents.

The documents which can be used as alternative to voters ID are passport, driving license, Pan Card, service ID card issued by the Central/State government, public sector undertaking and public limited companies, pass books, students’ ID Card, property documents with photographs such as registered deeds etc, Ration Card with photograph, Caste Certificate, pension documents, ex- servicemen pension pass books, certificate issued by to the widows of ex-servicemen, freedom fighters, ID Card, weapon license and disabled certificate, Sandhya Suraksha Cards, job cards of NREG and Yashashwini card issued before 31.03.08 will be valid.
