Udupi, Apr 21: Kulal community is still discriminated in rural parts and the community members are still facing harassment. Setting up guru-peeta can alone emancipate the members from the harassment, said Mohanadasa Paramahamsa Swamiji of Ganipeeta Manila.

He was addressing the gathering at Kulal community gathering organized by Perduru Kulal Sangha at Bukki Gudde here on Sunday April 20.

Setting up the guru-peeta is nothing but a way to uplift the community in the near future. The importance of peeta will be promulgated by visiting the length and breadth of the state, the Swamiji added.

Kulal community is a politically neglected community. The attitude of the major political parties in the impending assembly polls has shown evidence of it, D Chandrappa Moolya, state president of All India Prajapati Mahasangha in his inaugural address.

The community members must unite to urge the parties to listen to the woes and grievances of the community and make use of basic facilities. Every community member must zero in on strengthening the community politically and educationally, he added.

Rama Kulalu Pakkalu, president of Perduru Kulal Sangha, presided over the programme.

Krishna Kulal, president of the reception committee welcomed the gathering and Rajesh Kulal, joint secretary proposed the vote of thanks while Radha Krishna Bantwal compered the programme.
