Mangalore: DC Issues New Guidelines on Firearms

Mangalore, Apr 20: Deputy Commissioner and district electoral officer M Maheshwar Rao has issued fresh guidelines to licensed firearm holders to deposit their ammunition at the jurisdictional police station.
 
According to the release, however according to the DC's directives those who have not been involved in election-related violence in the past, those who do not have any criminal cases and licensed firearms owners need not deposit their firearms.
 
The release further adds that it is mandatory for firearm license holders who have been released on bail, facing criminal cases and those who were involved in election related violence to deposit their fire arms in the police station of their respective jurisdiction.
 
The DC's directive also mentions that people who are exempted from depositing their fire arms cannot use them or carry them till May 28. However, this order is not applicable to government officials and security personnel of banks
