Mangalore: SJEC Granted Permission to Offer PhD, MSc

Mangalore, Apr 19: Here's an heartening piece of news for students of engineering wanting to pursue their PhD or MSc. 

The registrar of Visvesvaraya Technological University, 'Jnana Sangama,' Belgaum has granted permission to the department of mechanical engineering of St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC) in the city to offer PhD and MSc (engineering) by a notification from the research registrar, stated a press release.  

The release goes on to state that 'Pursuant to the resolution of the executive council, it is hereby notified that the department of mechanical engineering of St Joseph Engineering College is permitted under Section (41) of the VTU Act 1994, to offer PhD/MSc (engineering) by research programmes in accordance with the regulations and guidelines in force. This permission is for one year starting from the academic year 2008-2009.'
