Mangalore: Chethan Lobo Awarded Doctorate in Physics

Mangalore, Apr 19: Chethan Vishal Lobo has been awarded PhD by the department of physics, Mangalore University for his thesis entitled 'Experimental Investigation on Liquid Crystals: Influence of Restricted Geometry and Effect of High Pressure.'

Chethan completed his PhD at the Centre for Liquid Crystal Research, Bangalore under the guidance of Dr S Krishna Prasad.

Son of Cyril Lobo and Dulcine Victoria Lobo of Lourdes ward of Cordel parish, Kalpane, Kulshekar here, Chethan completed his BSc from St Aloysius College and went on to do his masters in materials science in 2002 from Mangalore University.

During his PhD he had ten scientific publications in international journals of repute. He has also attended various scientific conferences at national and international levels. His presentation was adjudged the best paper presentation by a research student at the 10th National Conference on Liquid Crystals, Bangalore.

At present he is working as a post-doctoral research associate on liquid crystals and nano particles at University of Edinburgh in physics department, Scotland, UK.

He is married to Daisy Leena Lobo.
