Bangalore: Aryabhata Award Presented to Five Mangaloreans

Bangalore, Apr 18: Bangalore-based Aryabhata Cultural Organization conferred 'Aryabhata Cultural Award 2007' on Dharmapal U Devadiga, president of Devadiga Sangha, Mumbai and five others at a ceremony organized at Ravindra Kala Kshetra here on Thursday April 17.

Five Mangaloreans were among the awardees - Sadananda Shetty (education), Bannanje Govindacharya (spirituality), Satish Bhandary of Moodbidri (medicine), Malati K Holla (sports) and B R Bhat of Corporation Bank (banking).

The ceremony was presided over by Vishweshwar Bhat, editor in chief of Vijaya Karnataka. Dr Malimath, former chief justice of High Court was the chief guest for the occasion. Dr Mahesh Joshi, director of DD, Bangalore and others were present on the occasion.
