Karkala: Suprise Rain Brings Relief from Heat, Town Inundated

Karkala, Apr 18: The town was surprised with heavy rainfall and winds on Thursday April 17, bringing brief relief from the summer heat to the people.
The day was so cloudy that it seemed like monsoons had begun. At around 4.30 pm the clouds broke in to heavy rain accompanied with strong winds. The administration was caught unawares and lack of proper drainage system had the whole town inundated.
The heavy winds and rainfall uprooted trees one of which fell on an electric pole, causing power cuts in the region. There was rainfall in Udupi and Manipal also but no damage or loss of life has been reported so far.
