Mangalore, Apr 17: Spare the college teachers under Mangalore University from election duty,  Association of Mangalore University College Teachers (AMUCT) has urged.

According to a press release the University exams will begin on Thursday April 24 and will go on  till May end. The elections have been scheduled for May 16 and election duty requires a minimum of four working days, due to which the smooth conduct of exams will be hampered, said the teachers.

To avoid assigning election duties to the teachers of colleges affiliated to the University, AMUCT has written to the deputy commissioners of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Kodagu districts and to VC and also to the registrar of the University. This request is only for the present election and context and the teachers will definitely cooperate at other times, the release added.
