Karkala: Kodavoor's 'Gadudanthi Udal' Adjudged Best Play

Karkala, Apr 15: 'Gadudanthi Udal' directed by Balakrishna Kodavoor of Sumanasa Samskrithika Seva Sangatane of Kodavooru bagged first the place in the 'Muddanu Shree Mahalingeshwara Nataka Prasasthi 2008' drama competition, held under the aegis of Muddanu Shree Mahalingeshwara Temple.

'Gadudanthi Udal' outshined other entries in various categories like best direction, best actor, best villain, best stage setting, best play back music and best lighting. 'Court Marshal' of Karavali Kalavidaru and Mayoda Theertho of Ranjana Kalavidaru won second and third places respectively.

As many as seven teams of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts participated in the competition. Winners will get Rs 11,111 sponsored by Shekara R Shetty and runners up will get Rs 9,999 and Rs 7,777 respectively, sposored by I Shivanna Shetty and Shishir Shetty. The prizes will be presented by Shekhar R Shetty during the valedictory ceremony to be held on Wednesday April 16.

Some of the other winners are M S Bhat (best actor) for his role in Gadudanthi Udal as Sikandar Mirza, Laxmeesha Ganji Mata (best actress) for Baila Kural,  Balakrishna Kodavoor (best villain) for Gadudanthi Udal and Balakrishna Kodavoor (best directer) for Gadudanthi Udal.

President of Bhargava Turst Venkataramana Munchintayya, I Vishwanatha Shetty and others were present on the occasion.
