Mangalore: Writers Forum Felicitates Konkani Achievers

Mangalore, Apr 13: “ Writers are doing a noble deed by sharing their knowledge with  society. Similarly, they should fight for the social causes and create awareness among the people.” said Roy Castelino, president of Konkani Prachar Sanchalan.













Speaking at the felicitation ceremony organized by Konkani Writers' Forum at  the Bishops' House auditorium on Sunday, April 13, he said that  people are being attracted towards Konkani after  a few recent developments. 
Expressing concerning , he further said “ only few hands are supporting  the Konkani  cause” . “Konkani has already entered into the Karnataka school curriculum since one year. Therefore, Konkani writers should act as  catalysts in promoting Konkani in the academic field. On the other hand, political awareness is the need of the hour as the assembly election is nearing. The writers should work for all these noble causes”  he said

Meanwhile, Rachana award winner Dr Edward L Nazareth, Sandesha award winner Dolphy Lobo Cascia, Daiji Dubai award winner Edi Netto, MCC Bank director Raymond D'Cunha Taccode, Sahitya Academy member Edwin J F D'Souza, Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy book award winners J F D'Souza and Manu Bahrain were felicitated at the function.















Richard Moras, convener of Konkani Kutam Baharain and Valli Vogga, founder president of Konkani Writers' Association were present on this occasion.

Dr Edward Nazareth welcomed the gathering. Vitori Karkal officiated the felicitation ceremony. Dimple Fernandes compered the programme. 'Srujana,' a discussion on Konkani short stories, was held after the stage programme.
