Brazil forward Gabriel Jesus 'ok' after being hit on head

Melbourne, June 10 (IANS): Brazil forward Gabriel Jesus has escaped serious injury after being taken to hospital during the 0-1 loss to Argentina in their international football friendly at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Jesus was carried off the pitch on a stretcher after being accidentally struck on the head by the elbow of his Manchester City club-mate Nicolas Otamendi on Friday, reports Xinhua news agency.

"Gabriel is ok. I spoke to the doctors and they said he is fine. He had (medical) exams to see if there was a fracture, but fortunately he is ok," Brazil's assistant coach Edu Gaspar told reporters on Saturday.

Brazil coach Tite also allayed fears Jesus could have suffered concussion, though the 20-year-old is in doubt for the team's next match against Australia at the same venue on Tuesday.

"At first glance it doesn't seem to be anything serious" Tite said.
