Man City forward Nolito wants to move elsewhere

Madrid, June 7 (IANS): Manchester City's unsettled Spanish forward Nolito, citing his failure to adapt to life in the UK, says he is on the verge of quitting the English football club.

The former Celta Vigo forward's spell at the Ethiad Stadium got off to a positive start as the side, coached by Pep Guardiola, won their first 10 games of the season with Nolito one of their standout performers. But as the season progressed, City's performances dropped off and so did those of the forward, reports Xinhua news agency.

The 30-year-old ended up out of the team and as a result also lost his place in the Spanish national squad. He confessed on the Spanish radio show 'El Transistor' on Wednesday that he has failed to adapt to life in the UK.

"I want to leave, I have learned very little English; it's really difficult, all I learned was 'tomorrow, good morning, good afternoon' and very little else. Meanwhile, my daughter has come home with a really bad colour to her face and it looks as if she has been living in a cave," the Spaniard said in reference to Manchester's cloudy climate.

Although Nolito said he didn't blame Guardiola for his problems, he admitted that he didn't think "City are counting on me, given the small amount I have played since January".

"I have a contract and City are in charge, but I would like to leave," admitted the forward, who was photographed on Tuesday speaking with Sevilla's Director of Sport, Oscar Arias.

"I was in Sevilla by chance to buy some clothes for my wife. I was having a coffee and I bumped into him by chance... later I also met the Sevilla President, but fortunately there were no photographers there," explained Nolito.
