Mangalore: Nagaraj Shetty Distributed Tiles, Alleges Rai

Deccan Herald

Mangalore, Apr 10: Dakshina Kannada District Congress President and former minister B Ramanath Rai has alleged that former minister B Nagaraj Shetty has distributed about 19 truck loads of tiles thereby violating the poll code of conduct.

Speaking to media persons here on Wednesday, Mr Rai alleged that Mr Shetty distributed the tiles in his constituency as he (Mr Shetty) knows that “it is difficult to win the elections fairly.”

Stating that the people of Bantwal will not fall prey to gimmicks, Mr Rai termed Mr Shetty as a big liar with false assurances.

To a query on whether Mr Rai has filed any complaint against Mr Shetty, Mr Rai said that he has followed the legal procedures and poll guidelines.

To another query on whether the delimitation of constituencies has helped the Congress, Mr Rai said: “To a great extent. Wherever the Congress voters were scattered, the delimitation has brought them together.”

Mr Rai also said that the party will plan a strategy to win the elections after the candidates’ list was out.
DCC Members Khader Vittal and Sadashiva Ullal were present.
