Temperatures fall slightly in Himachal, rain in store


Shimla, June 6 (IANS): Temperatures across Himachal Pradesh fell slightly on Tuesday, with state capital Shimla recording a high of 28.3 degrees Celsius against Monday's 29.6 degrees Celsius. The mercury is likely to fall further with chances of rains and thundershowers across the state till June 8.

"Rainfall occurred at isolated places in the state in the past 24 hours. From now onwards the state is likely to see widespread rains or thundershowers," Manmohan Singh, director of the meteorological office here, told IANS.

Kalpa, a picturesque town 250 km from here, recorded a maximum temperature of 25.2 degrees Celsius, while it was 35.9 degrees in Sundernagar in Mandi district, and 33.8 degrees at Dharamsala in Kangra district.

Una town was the hottest in the state at a high of 40.6 degrees Celsius.
