Govt trying to divert attention from GDP failure: Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi, Jun 1 (PTI): Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi today criticised the government for the decline in GDP growth and said it was manufacturing other issues to deflect the country's attention from its failures.

"Falling GDP.Rising unemployment. Every other issue is manufactured to distract us from this fundamental failure," he tweeted.

He also tagged a news report that said the country had lost its tag of being the fastest growing economy in the world after the fourth quarter GDP growth declined to 6.1 per cent.

Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had dubbed the decision to demonetise high currency notes as "legalised plunder and a monumental failure" and predicted a 2 per cent fall in GDP. Later, former Finance Minister P Chidambaram had also criticised the note ban and said it would lead to a fall in GDP growth.

The GDP crash of almost 1% (7 to 6.1) in a quarter is very alarming. Besides the PMI is getting lower from 52.4 to 51.2, thus getting closer to the red signal of 50. The Government has no alternative formula to avert this dangerous sliding trend. The rapidly increasing unemployment and the failing job creation will make the situation far serious in the days ahead. The beef ban therapy will be adding oil to the fire.

Shibu, are you still in Dr. Manmohan Singh rule, wake up man 3 years of modi rule and no results. And for your information international oil prices were 120$ and petrol in India was sold at rs. 65 to 70, and today international oil price is less than $50 and petrol sold in India is more than rs 70/- , during. Manmohan time one uae dhiram was 14 rs. and today I dhiram is 17 rs. You have gained in modi's rule that's why you eat drink and sleep bhp.
