Rain brings respite to national capital


New Delhi, May 31 (IANS): The national capital got respite from heat on Wednesday after a bright and sunny morning as the city saw some scattered rain at isolated places. The weather office said showers are expected throughout the day.

"Rain and thundershower with squally winds are expected towards the afternoon, after 1.30 p.m. again. It would rain towards the evening as well," an official from the India Meteorological Department said.

According to the Met Office, Thursday was also likely to be a rainy day.

Private weather forecaster Skymet also said, "Besides Delhi, rain and thundershower may occur at some parts over Faridabad, Gurgaon, Jhajjar, Mewat, Palwal, Rohtak, Sonepat, Aligarh, Baghpat, Bulandshahr, Gautam Buddha Nagar and Ghaziabad districts" of adjoining Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.

The minimum temperature on Wednesday was recorded at 26.4 degrees Celsius, a notch below the season's average, the Met Office said.
