Mangalore, Apr 06:
Officials of the Lokayukta team lead by deputy superintendent of police J Bhandary and inspector Udaya Nayak on Friday April 04 afternoon, succeeded once again by trapping a Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) inspector. They caught the official red-handed while accepting a bribe, while conducting a raid at his house in Assaigoli around 20 kms from here.

Inspector Hanumanthaiah was demanding a sum of Rs 7,000 from constable Sanjeeva Kolara, to avoid an enquiry against the latter and also recommend him for a higher post in the department, according to the Lokayukta officials.

On his part Sanjeeva, brought this matter to the notice of the sleuths of the Lokayukta on Thursday April 3. So in a covert operation on Friday, constable Sanjeeva was sent by the Lokayukta police to Hanumanthaiah house at the KSRP quarters at Asaigoli with a sum of Rs 5,000, on which a certain chemical was sprayed.

Totally in dark about the trap laid for him, Hanumanthaiah took the said amount from Sanjeeva, falling squarely into the trap laid by the experienced Lokayukta team. Thereupon, he was immediately arrested and taken into custody.
