Udupi, Apr 3: Welfare schemes give a kind of boost and are a support to the ex-police officials and the working employees, declared retired police inspector Y Venkatappa Tholar here on Wednesday April 2.  

Tholar was speaking at the flag hoisting ceremony at Chandu Maidan here as part of Police Flag Day and Welfare Day celebrations.

Speaking on the importance of the police flag, he said that it is the flag that reminds the police of their duties and makes them strong in their weak times.  

On this occasion Kundapur deputy SP Shashidar Karkala, deputy SP Girish were present on the occasion and nearly Rs 30,000 was distributed to retired police officials as support benefits.  
 
S P Devajothi Road welcomed the gathering and deputy SP Nagaraj proposed the vote of thanks.
