Puttur: 'Constitution Misused by Political Parties for Communal Ends'

Daijiworld Media Network – Puttur (KM/AF)

Puttur, Apr 1: The constitution is being increasingly misused by political parties to serve their communal agendas, alleged B K Chandrashekar.

He was addressing the gathering at Rasthriya Bhavvaikya Samvada (dialogues on national harmony) held at Bharatiya Baavaikya Pratisthana here on Sunday March 30.

The political parties are trying to come to power by foul means. It is ridiculous to expect positive development from them who are infamous for disturbing communal harmony and spreading religious intolerance, he added.

The communal parties must observe the condition of minorities before alleging that minorities are being appeased. The way of life lead by them is pitiable, he said.

It is a matter of shame that the society has failed to recognize the significant contributions by churches and missionaries; instead, they have become the targets of certain communal outfits, he lamented.

History is being misinterpreted. Indian history as well as the history of the state are appropriate examples for secularism, but certain communal forces are dubbing it as chronology of Hindu-Muslim riots, he added.

A R Chandra, president of the Pratisthana welcomed the gathering and Prof B J Suvarna compered the programme.
