M'lore: Birthday Girl Sushmita Killed in Ghastly Accident

In an ironical twist of destiny a little girl's birthday turned out to be her day of death.  
The fragile life of little Sushmita, all of three years, from Mudumarnadu village in Moodbidri, was snuffed out here on Friday March 28 by the cruel hands of destiny.   

She was killed in a road accident at Alangar junction when a jeep belonging to government department rammed into their two-wheeler from behind.  Sushmita was going home along with her father Nagesh and mother Sumitra when the accident took place.

Sushmita who had sustained critical injuries in the accident was admitted to A J Hospital in Mangalore where she breathed her last later.

The accident took place on the Moodbidri-Karkala road under Moodbidri police limits. Both Sumithra and Nagesh sustained severe injuries in the incident and have been admitted to a private hospital.   

According to the police sub-inspector Umapathi, the family of three were on their way home after purchasing sweets near Moodbidri bus stand, when the ghastly accident occurred, changing their lives forever.  

The incident incurred the wrath of the locals in the area, who reportedly thrashed the driver and badly damaged the jeep which was owned by the commercial tax department. A case has been registered by the Moodbidri police against the jeep driver.
