New Pakistan envoy to India Sohail Mahmood to join May end

Islamabad, May 8 (IANS): Pakistan's new envoy to India Sohail Mahmood is set to take over at the end of May, replacing current High Commissioner Abdul Basit whose term ends at the time, official sources said on Monday.

"Sohail Mahmood, who currently serves as Ambassador to Turkey, will replace Basit," a Foreign Office source confirmed.

The source said the Indian High Commission in Islamabad has issued visa to Mahmood.

Basit was appointed as Pakistan's envoy to India in 2014.
