Nottingham: Deepak Alvares Elected President of MUKA

Nottingham, Mar 26: After the Grand success of Easter celebrations Mangalorean United Konkani Association gathered to elect new office-bearers for 2008 – 2009 in Bramcote Memorial Hall, Nottingham, with the goal of keeping the Konkani culture alive.

The out-going President John Peter Fernandes welcomed the   members for the Annual General Body meeting. Stevan Dsouza conducted the elections. New   committee was elected for the years 2008- 09. The following members elected unanimously.

President: Deepak Alvarees
Vice President: Deena Pereira
Secretary: Vincent Dsouza
Treasurer: Lancy Dsouza
Cultural Secretary: Melwyn Dsouza and Roopa D’souza
Communication Coordinator: Julian Noronha
Liturgical Secretary: Janet D’sa

Additional Committee Members:
Asumptha Dsouza, Stany Sequeira, Richard Desilva, Walter Rodrigues, Pius Rasquinha, Lydia Lewis.

The out-going President thanked the committee and the members for their consistent support during their term and wished new office bearers all success.

Meeting Concluded with new president addressing the meeting and Thanking God with a Hymn.
