Mangalore, Mar 23:
One of the city's top-most journalists and regular contributor to daijiworld website, as well as a  prominent staff of All India Radio (AIR) was assaulted by three persons at Kandettu,  here on March 22.

On Saturday March 22,  an FIR was lodged at the Kadri police station, by the said staff member against regular walkers on the said road Dr. L M. Sridhara and two others who were understood to have pushed her and roughed her up, in a case of mistaken identity.

A case has been booked under charges of criminal restraint, intentional insult to provoke breach of peace. Speaking here to daijiworld.com, recounting the sequence of events the AIR staff member informed that in the Kandettu area as per the DC's orders barricades are set-up from 5 am to 8 am daily, in order to prevent the roads from being misused by anti-social elements.

However, in the earlier morning office-goers like herself need to be on their jobs, and therefore as she was coming in her in two-wheeler, the said three persons stopped her vehicle and asked her to come out, when she refused she was pushed and roughed up saying she could not enter. They had mistaken her for a man who had earlier breached the barricades.

According to the AIR staff, she has lodged this FIR as she wants to send across a message that no person has a right to take the law into their own hands. "They could have taken up the matter with the local police, instead of resorting to this kind of harassment and intimidation." Moreover, this will be a lesson to all others who resort to resolving matters outside court, she added.
