Mangalore: MESCOM Awarded Bronze Medal at New Delhi

Mangalore, Mar 22: Sushil Kumar Shinde, union power minister, honoured Mangalore Electricity Supply Company Ltd (MESCOM) with bronze medal as a note of appreciation at New Delhi on Thursday March 20, sources inromed here on Saturday March 22.

MESCOM that distributes power to Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Shimoga and Chikmagalur districts has a revenue collection of Rs 899 crore and supplies electricity to 15.33 lac consumers.

The inefficiency of transformers has come down drastically to 9.37 per cent and loss during distribution has come down to 13.63 per cent. Rural Load Management System (RLMS) has been introduced to improve tail-end voltage in rural areas.  Moreover the power loss has come down to 13.63 per cent.

The auto re-enclosure system has been implemented in forests of Malnad ghats to prevent the interruption in power supply caused owing to wood and branches falling on the power transmission lines, sources said.

Sumanth, managing director and Bharat Lal Meena, chairman were present on the occasion.
